Journal de JustBananas, 14 janv. 23

Stepped on the scale this morning and it's holding at 132, so no change, though I'll try again tomorrow. Otherwise, I've plateaued here, which is temporary but annoying and I knew it would happen at some point. If it's not windy this afternoon, I may go for a rainy day walk, otherwise it's going to be an hour of dancing in the living room.💃🏻🎵

Figured out a way to eat pasta without going overboard: Thai noodle bowls. I boil up just 1.5 servings of plain spaghetti, then top it with edamame, red bell pepper, radishes, sugar snap peas, green onion, cilantro, peanuts, fresh ginger, and my homemade spicy peanut sauce. So much less salt, fat and calories than anything I'd get from a restaurant, and it resembles more of a salad than a noodle dish.

Hope everyone is getting some exercise and adhering to their food plan this weekend. Let's remember why we want to lose weight in the first place! 👁️🏆

I've turned to doing stir fries. Quick and easy, great way to get proteins and veggies, without all the added fats and sodium from anything store bought. I worked out yesterday, had a slight strain of my right chest muscle. But managed to get an awesome rehab session on it today, it's feeling much better.

Sounds great! Best of both - noodles and veggies. I’m craving ramen today but maybe I’ll change gears and make something less processed. Just got my recovery walking workout done and headed into some strength training. Enjoy your weekend and hope the plateau doesn’t persist.

@Moonflow: Stir fries are the best! And when I'm super sore from a workout, I make the next day all about yoga🧘🏻‍♀️. @Moko: I passed on the packaged ramen noodles because of the sodium. Swapped it with just the regular thin spaghetti pasta, which is way less salt. Making my own peanut sauce is the game changer. I already had all the ingredients, so no need to buy the processed bottled stuff. I've been on a Thai and Japanese food kick for the past week. Awesome to hear about the walking & weights!🏋🏻‍♀️

I wish I was holding at 132...

@Justbananas yeah, not super sore, was doing a dumbbell bench press yesterday, and I felt a searing pain from my right armpit to just below my nipple. Instantly dropped the weight. Today it was much better, warmed up with some light weights, lots of stretching, then did 9 sets, starting at 5 pounds all the way up to 25 pounds. Feels much better now.

The noodle bowl sounds good!

@Morticia: Highly recommend the Thai noodle bowl. I made mine Vegan, but you could always add rotisserie chicken to it for even more protein. It also travels well for lunches on the road, as it can be eaten at room temperature or cold.

The Thai noodle bowl sounds heavenly 😋 And you're right that you can make things so much healthier at home. As to the weight -- there are worse places to plateau at. I like to think of plateaus as my body adjusting before it's willing to go down a bit more. Hope you're having a great weekend! 😃

That plateau can be so hard! I was stuck there for months and that is when my trainer moved me to macros. Just the change of doing something different I then finished and hit my goal.

I went straight for the coffee this morning so no weigh in, but calling it an early plateau for now. @Redporch: absolutely agree on changing it up to push off the stall. If the weight stays the same my next weigh in, I’ll do different cardio workouts.

Your noodle bowl sounds good. What do you put in your peanut sauce?

No, upward number. I'm sure the numbers will be coming down.

@Sherry: Processed bottled sauce often uses honey, so to keep mine Vegan: I smash up salted peanuts in the food processor first to make peanut butter, then mix in soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili sauce, brown sugar, fresh squeezed lime juice and grated ginger and garlic cloves. Thin it with water (depending if you want a sauce or dip). Recipe for your records: https://www.foxandbriar.com/the-best-thai-peanut-sauce-recipe/

I enjoyed reading your post, very informative. You are handling this temporary plateau like a true champ!

@Blue and @Wyo and @Mary: I didn't always handle the plateaus with grace, but this is a new year, so self-improvement is on the to-do list. Instead of letting frustration twist my mood (and lead me to punish myself), I'm redirecting that energy into yoga, stretching and outdoor walks. Though frankly my moods and outlook on life is a lot sunnier since I changed my diet to plant based. Cutting out processed food and dairy entirely has just healed me, body & mind.

Beautifully said. I will heed your advice and apply it to my own life. I need to reprogram my way of thinking. Thank you for your words. 🙏🏼 Peace and love my west coast pal!
