I ❤️ them too, but their primary goal in my diet is potassium. Potassium, magnesium, and sodium are both the building blocks for movement and hydration in endurance training outside of glucose. Your body uses these elements to help invite water into the cells and your neurons use them to fire off electrical impulses for movement. Some Ms specialists will prescribe potassium and magnesium to help with spasms because ms’ers go through twice the amount of these elements than the average person. My own specialist confirmed this a few years back and picked out my magnesium on Amazon for me right there in the office and told me to eat the bananas for the potassium. I already ingested a LOT of salt 🧂. It took my muscle relaxer dosage from 4 a day to one or two baclofen, it worked so good. So, bananas are now literally a daily supplement and I confess a favorite! 🤤 @rob - when I was in deficit back in the good old days before maintenance, we didn’t even bring them into the house. Too much sugar and unnecessary calories. But, for my fitness goals they’re a lifeline!

Well, all I can say is good absorption and the pace and amount for which I can take any meal down is considered pretty epic in this house hold. I can put some pigs to shame for sure 😁 However, I do make sure to lower the glycemic index on my glucose sources by always adding protein in some form to the mix. It helps with insulin spikes and keeps the glucose burning slower and steadier throughout endurance training so I don’t have to fuel as much or as often. With regards to nutritional absorption-like many endurance athletes use, good ole B12 does the job and helps to treat sports anemia which a lot of athletes contend with including myself.
