I'm frankly amazed there is only a .5 lb increase in water. I have a fair bit of inflammation going on after 4 days of shoveling snow, in addition to my workouts. And, I have weights today with rep increases so this number is likely to go up in tomorrow's weigh in. I'm being careful not to over-do it. The shoveling definitely does a number on the shoulder blades. I had a small knot in my right shoulder yesterday that was driving me crazy! lol. On the other hand, soreness means "muscle repair" and muscle repair means increased muscle capacity. Needless to say, I'm thankful to my body right now for some water retention to help these muscles and cushion these poor joints - even my hands are sore! I'll be posting the maintenance calorie trajectory later today. It's a restaurant night edition!

Here's an article that explains it well. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/just-started-exercising-gaining-weight/ It's common, especially for those who workout consistently and/or are constantly increasing reps and weights. It's essential for muscle repair and an important aspect of increasing muscle mass.

Thank you for the link. My inflammation is not from working out, unfortunately. Well, maybe it is when shoveling snow is considered. I'll read the info on the link and see what is what.
