Just pisses me off that I really didn’t care that I was gaining weight until now 😔

I know what you mean Dawnie. For most of my life, I didn't care that I was gaining weight or at what rate. It kind of bothered me when I saw photos or couldn't fit into clothes I liked, but I was in denial about how much I was eating and had no idea what my weight was.

I think it's okay to give ourselves some loose in periods like the holidays. Also during weight loss diets I use one "cheat day" a week, it help keep the longer run.
