We opted to eat at a new Cuban restaurant last night. Cuban food is one of our favorites having lived in Tampa previously for 8 years. There are so many really good & authentic Cuban restaurants there. The salt in the meal affected me this A.M. as I gained 1.4 pounds over night. The penalty of eating out. But, it was worth it. The roast pork with rice & black beans was very good. And, we had some flan that was over-the-top delicious,...and maybe the best I've ever had. "Simply Cuban" if you are ever in the historic little burg of Cross Plains.

Like much of the U.S., middle TN is going to be blasted with the harsh winter system that is crossing the country. Snow is predicted (though the amounts forecased vary), and we will be down at "zero" for a couple of days with temps not getting above freezing for a week. That is definitely harsh for middle TN in any winter. After having lived previously in the north for 18 years, my body has acclimated to the milder winter temps of TN, and this winter storm has everyone scrambling to keep warm & have enough food stored.

It is time to get the legs on the bike and peddle another 22 miles. Everyone keep warm, keep focusing, exercising, and losing / maintaining your weight. God is good !!

I would love to try Cuban food. Especially a Cuban sandwich. Love Tampa! The architecture there years ago was awesome and I hope they have not changed it.

MorticiaAddams, Cuban food is very basic, but delicious if made by someone who knows how. The best I ever had was at La Bamba, a small "mom & pop", where 3 generations were employed in the family business. It was sort of a cafeteria style setup. Grandma ran the place, and everyone knew not to cross her. She knew how to cook. Her roast pork with black beans & rice were phenomenal. That's been over 25 years, Hopefully, they are still open. Tampa Bay is a great place to live.
