Credit to the inches lost. Sounds like you're doing your bit on being active, so you're putting on muscle weight (which is the best thing for better metabolism).
P.S. I used to play two sports and was very lean, but BMI calculators claimed I had an unhealthy weight which was untrue. I would encourage you to look up other ways of measuring your progress like muscle/fat mass - the inches is a great measurement, too!
