Have somehow managed to put on weight, whilst not changing anything except adding more fat after reading a book about how we don't give our bodies enough fat. Not sure what to do now.

That comment is not helpful, but I guess I didn't explain well. I'd put on weight without changing anything. After reading Dr David Ludwig's book I tried keeping my calorie intake the same as I had been (successfully keeping off the weight I lost for over a year now), eating more good fat within my calorie intake for fuel and avoiding white bread (which I try to do anyway) and things with added sugar. I somehow put on 1.3kg over two weeks without doing anything I can pinpoint, so something has to change. Perhaps my body just needs a change?

So, adding more good fats hasn't put on the weight. I'm trying it to see if it will help me to fuel my body with more good fat. The book makes a lot of sense, so time will tell if my tweaking works.

How long have you been eating with the new macro split? Could you be retaining fluid?

I could be I guess, but nothing sticks out as being obvious to me. I am going to stick with the higher good fats within my daily limit and see how I go. I'm 55, and not big, but don't want to creep up again. I do think that my age and menopause changes so many things hormonally. I've been able to stay at my weight for days at a time (within a small rise and fall as expected) but seemingly, one dinner out can push me over. It is stupidly easy to creep on half a kilo in a day or two and so hard to take it off. I do weight myself every morning so that if I've crept up a little, I am more careful. If I weigh myself once a week, I could put on 1.5kg like I did a couple of weeks ago. Arghhh!!!

Ugh, yeah, that's frustrating! I have massive swings, I weigh daily or I'd lose my mind from only seeing a once a week snapshot. I can swing 2kg in a day either way, for no apparent reason.

That has to be water weight right? I mean, it's hard to see how you could have gained actual fat. Dinners out usually contain a lot of salt, so that's probably why your weight would go up the next day after that, I'd guess. Anyway, good luck! I hope your body adjusts :)

Thank you for the helpful comments. It is good to know I'm not alone with this frustration of not really knowing why suddenly I'm heavier. I've been very careful, the past week, and have started losing a little again, so I'll continue and see if I can lose the 1.5kg I put on. It always takes longer to take off than to put on.
