Stress is getting the best of me, I have been working out a lot but that always makes me hungry. Especially at night. 7 pm - 9pm has not been good food wise…Wanted to try to go into surgery at a lower weight as I know I’ll probably gain a bit due to restrictions on working out. No workouts except casual walking ( not alone) for 3-4 weeks,. Then possible lower body workouts, no weights. Upper body workouts on hold for at least 6 weeks. Can’t even drive for 3 weeks! Hopefully I’ll heal quickly! 🙏

Sorry you are feeling stressed. It's understandable, you've had this surgery hanging over your head for awhile. I know how important working out and going to the gym is to you, but I would personally take advantage of the healing and recovery time

Fritzy, Ya I know I'm kind of obsessed with working out but it helps my physical and mental health. It's such a big part of my life. That being said, I will definitely take the time needed.I don't want to jeopardize my recovery in any way! I have this fantasy of lying in bed, binge watching my shows, and eating cookies...lol. I doubt that will happen but it's fun to dream..😂😂😂💜💜💜

Sometimes to help my evening hunger, I split my 4 pm meal (a high protein meal) in 1/2. Save the other 1/2 plus, add a boiled egg for a later snack. I also add 1 cup of Sam’s beef bone broth to help! Plus, the broth relaxes me. Wonder why we get so dang hungry at night??! 🙄 Ugh. It helps that I’m so tired from teaching that I’m asleep by 9 pm! Lol Continued prayers for comfort during this time of worry for you! You are in GREAT shape though and that will help you heal quicker. It may not feel like it at first, but it will. It is a bummer not to be able to WO like you normally do, but it will happen again.

I have the same fantasy, lying in bed on a rainy day binge watching some of my old DVDs, like The Closer. But a bag of chips instead of cookies!

Stormsgirl, didn't know Sam's sold bone broth! I'll have to check it out. Thx! I have some in the fridge that I made so I'll try that tonight. I do try to eat protein high snacks but it doesn't always work. I've been good about munching on raw veggies too. 💜

Veggies help me too! But I add a little 1/3 cream cheese or PB, like PB w carrots. Or cream cheese w cucumber. I get my bone broth from Walmart, Sam’s Coice brand organic beef bone broth. I’ve been bummed out because my local store hasn’t had any in 2 weeks! Ugh So, I settled for the chicken bone broth, not AS good but good. I like kettle brand but it’s too pricy to buy it weekly! Rediculous how much it is for a small tiny box. How do you make your bone broth? How many hours does it need to boil, what herbs etc do you add?

Video I watched today said that the more you exercise the hungrier your body becomes, especially during recovery...I'm guessing that occurs at night for most of us. I know working out is supposed to help our mental stress, but it creates physical stress if you go too hard for too long. I don't know what will help the stress and worry of an upcoming surgery, but don't forget to allow your body to recover from working out and go into your surgery with a rested and relaxed and nourished body. You are an awesome person and I am sure that you will come out of the surgery with flying colors!!

Working out pretty much always makes me hungrier, not right after but definitely later on! I know it’s easier said than done but you shouldn’t stress over this, consider it a deload month to give your muscles a rest and time for your body to heal, knowing your work ethic, you will be back in no time giving it 110% like always!! I hope all goes well with the surgery, and keep us posted! 👍🏻😊

Try to eat protein as soon as you can after your workouts. Anything really just protein dense, it’s supposed to help. I just joined here but I’ve lost 37 lbs since February. Just started weightlifting and I’m stuck number wise because I’m exchanging fat for muscle. I need yo up my protein as well. GL!

you are supposed to have protein within an hour of working out. less weight more times. having an abdominoplasty? mine was great, the sooner you walk the better, I went to Vegas after mine, in less than a week. you will do great!😁

blueyedbabe, I do have protein after I come home from my workouts but that's in the morning. I eat a protein heavy dinner about 4-5 nights a week but I'm still hungry. I have been eating yogurt and berries as a snack which does seem to fill me up..As for my surgery, Im having a heart procedure. I'll be out of commission for awhile. 💜 Debra, thank you for your encouragement! I know I'll figure it out eventually..lol💜 rc, thank you very much and I mean that sincerely 😘

What time do you eat dinner? Maybe you can plan a snack in the evening. I eat dinner late...7:30-8:00....so I don't have any problem with snacking. I also have something for dessert every night.

And try not to stress about your weight right now....easier said than done, I know. Even if you gain a few pounds after your surgery, I know you'll be able to lose it once you're able to work out again.

It is magical to fit yourself with the right pedal cycle and find a fairly convenient safe and paved green way paved trail - it is difficult to realize the balance with hunger and calories / everyone has to personalize their goals against reality - stay safe!

Sherrye, we eat at around 5:30. My husband has ulcerative colitis and can't eat much later than that or he starts to have stomach problems. I have noticed if I have a protein snack around 7-730 I am good till about 830-9. Then I try to have a few raw veggies. I'm good with that but occasionally I just want a sweet treat..That's where I struggle! 😘 Zoo, Thanks, I'm always a work in progress and always trying to do better...👍 Moko, 💜💜💜 Mello, first off congratulations on your weight loss! That is great! I took weightlift. I workout 5-6 days a week. Right now because of my heart situation I'm having to adjust my weights to no more than 10 lbs so I've been doing lots of reps. Good luck on your journey!👍
